Livingston were finally beaten by a strong Kimarnock side after more than holding their own for the full ninety minutes. It could almost be argued that over the ninety ninety minutes we were the (slightly) better side and created more than enough chances. Brian McPhee looked very sharp and fast but unfortunately just coudln't convert that into a goal. Kilmarnock took the lead after referee Eric Martindale ruled that Sean Sweeney has fouled a Killie player in the box but as he won a clean header this is a mystery. As we all know once a decision is made it's made and Paul Wright stepped up to slot home the spot kick. It had to be a near perfect penalty to beat the Eagle as big Ian again "knew" where the ball was going and it sailed just past hist fingertips. Just into the second half Ian Little was scythed in the box and Livi had the penalty. This time Dave Bingham stepped up to convert.

Both sides the fought out an even battle to take the tie in to extra time.

Shortly into the first period of extra time that man Alisdair McCoist scored a typical Super Ally strike from * yds off a pin point cross. Livingston were then force to push forward to try and get at least the goal to take the tie to penalties. We were then caught with the sucker punch from a Paul Wright header for a result which slightly fattered Killie

MoM: Frank Conway: Only played the regulation ninety minutes but he revelled in his new midfield role and was at the heart of the Livi attack.
