Up till now the Lions teeth had yet to show in League competition with performances being disappointing. Things do change however and in this game things began to gel.

Brian McPhee made a welcome return from suspension and his pace caused the East Fife defence all sorts of problems. Throughout the match. Dave Bingham headed home the opener after 7 minutes but the visitors equalised shortly after. John Robertson restored the lead just after the half hour mark when Brian McPhee broke free of the offside trap to go one on one with the keeper. Robbo stayed with him all the way and when the ball broke to him it was a tap in for the "veteran".

The second half was all Livi and it was again Robbo that was at the heart of the move that led to the Livi goal. John was homing in on goal when he was hauled down by the East Fife keeper. The referee Jim McCluskey correctly gave the penalty and McCulloch decided to show his view on the decision by raising his fists. The only and inevitable outcome was the Red Card. Dave Bingham kept his cool and stepped up to slot home the spot kick.

Kevin Magee came on midway through the second half and looked hungry to prove his worth to Ray Stewart and although he didn't have much time he did enough to deserve the chance to cement his slot on the team sheet. He did have the ball in the net after a good move involving Robertson and Bingham but unfortunately the linesmans flagwas alreeady up when he got the ball.

M0M: John Robertson
